He's not even surprised at himself. This basically always happens. It's the universe's decree.
What does come as a surprise is Rezo's remark. The earnestness of it sets him off kilter.
(He supposes it must help Rezo's estimation of Amelia that she wasn't around for the Philosopher's Stone debacle, but refrains from saying as much.) ]
...Amelia really can't be left to her own devices. Someone's got to keep her out of trouble.
